Renji Abarai (阿散井 恋次, Abarai Renji) is a fictional character in the Japanese anime and manga series Bleach created by Tite Kubo. In the series, he initially challenges Ichigo Kurosaki , the protagonist of the series, but he later joins forces with him to help rescue Rukia Kuchiki halfway through the Soul Society arc.
Renji Abarai (阿散井 恋次, Abarai Renji), is a Soul Reaper of Squad 6 in the Gotei 13. When he was first introduced he played an antagonistic role as he was sent to the human world to find and bring Rukia back to the Soul Society.
Rukia and Renji investigate Byakuya's office, but Byakuya arrives with Senbonzakura, tossing Rukia the broken remains of her zanpakutō. Zabimaru arrives to help Renji fight Byakuya and Senbonzakura, but they are overpowered. Tenken, Houzukimaru, Kazeshini, Ruri'iro Kujaku and Gonryomaru suddenly arrive.

Renji attempts to rescue Rukia, but is confronted by his captain, Byakuya. Renji unleashes his bankai Hihiō Zabimaru, only to be overpowered when Byakuya reveals his own bankai Senbonzakura Kageyoshi. Despite being defeated, Renji manages to inflict a minor wound on his captain before collapsing from his injuries as Byakuya congratulates him.
As Renji Abarai recovers in his cell, the spirit of his zanpakutō Zabimaru says that he wishes to face Ichigo Kurosaki's zanpakutō Zangetsu again, but Renji tells him that Ichigo is no longer his enemy. Elsewhere, Yoruichi Shihōin manages to evade Byakuya Kuchiki and escape with Ichigo.
As Ichigo and Orihime battle Yhwach, Byakuya tells Rukia and Renji to head to the palace to aid Ichigo. The sixth season of the Bleach anime series is named the Arrancar: The Arrival arc (破面・出現篇, Arankaru Shutsugen Hen). In the English adaptation of the anime released by Viz Media, the title of the season is translated as The Arrancar. [1] The episodes are directed by Noriyuki Abe, and produced by TV Tokyo, Dentsu and Studio Pierrot. [2]
