Jonesboro (/ ˈ dʒ oʊ n z b ʌ r ə /) is a city located on Crowley's Ridge in the northeastern corner of the U.S. State of Arkansas. Jonesboro is one of two county seats of Craighead County . The Real Estate Bank of Arkansas was a bank in Arkansas during the 1830s through 1850s. Formed in 1836, the bank had a troubled history with accusations of waste and favoritism, as well as violations of the bank's legal charter. The bank suspended specie payments in 1839 to allow it to lend out more money.
The bank used the building until 1894. It was then used as a clothing store and for offices afterwards until 1901 when it was occupied by Jonesboro Savings & Trust, (later known as the Jonesboro Trust Company).
