Posted May 22. If you are including prototypes, I have the following entries to add: 3-D Genesis - Amiga. This is a port of Datasoft’s computer game Genesis, only in 3d. Artillery Duel - Xonox. Not sure if the Astrocade version came out before or after. Beamrider - Activision.

The combined videogame/pinball game Caveman (1981) appears to have used a 6502 for main CPU, another 6502 for audio and a 8088 for generating the video. Possibly this was the first arcade or console ever to use a X86 CPU, though not as its primary CPU. Apparently they switched around the architecture for Q*Bert etc released the year after.

The fact that this game got no credit for its storyline is just sad. Nintendo Complete did a playthrough of this game that he translated himself. Here's hoping someone makes a proper translation patch. (Or for that matter, rips all the sprites from it.)

A video game crash was occurring, and all companies were taking it on the chin. For the Atari 2600, 1984 was a much more subdued year and the price of the system had now dropped to $40-$50. Many were saying that the video game industry was dead.
Funnily enough, one of my friends has Magical Chase and the US version. (His dad was a Sega and TG-16 collector.)
