The Functional Skills Qualification is a frequently required component of post-16 education in England.The aim of Functional Skills is to encourage learners to develop and demonstrate their skills as well as learn how to select and apply skills in ways that are appropriate to their particular context in English, mathematics, ICT and digital skills.

Entry Level is the lowest level in the National Qualifications Framework in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.Qualifications at this level recognise basic knowledge and skills and the ability to apply learning in everyday situations under direct guidance or supervision.
There is also a Skills for Life qualification in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
