Pigeon Forge is a mountain resort city in Sevier County, Tennessee, United States.As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 6,343.Situated just 5 miles (8 km) north of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pigeon Forge is a tourist destination that caters primarily to Southern culture and country music fans.
A prospective campground must meet certain standards before being considered as a potential Jellystone Park location. Each campground is required to have a minimum of 100 campsites and 4 full-service cabins, a commercial swimming pool that is at least 20 feet by 50 feet, first class restroom facilities, a laundry facility and a retail store.
Cumberland Mountain State Park currently maintains 37 rustic cabins, each of which can accommodate 4 to 10 people, depending on size. The Mill House Lodge was renovated in 2020 and can accommodate 6 people. There are a total of 147 campsites at the park's campgrounds, and one backcountry campsite located along the Cumberland Overnight Trail.
Surrounding towns—notably Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Townsend in Tennessee, and Cherokee, Sylva, Maggie Valley, and Bryson City in North Carolina—receive a significant portion of their income from tourism associated with the park. The park features three main entrances, located in Gatlinburg, Cherokee, and Townsend.
