Park House (Welsh: Tŷ Parc; formerly McConnochie House), 20 Park Place, Cardiff, Wales, is a nineteenth century town house. It was built for John McConnochie, Chief Engineer to the Bute Docks, by the Gothic revivalist architect William Burges. It is a Grade I listed building.
Tŷ Hywel is part of the Senedd estate in Cardiff Bay, along with the Senedd building and the Grade I listed Pierhead Building. [7] [9] Two covered link bridges connect the Senedd building to Tŷ Hywel. Construction of the link bridges began in September 2004 and they were completed by December 2005. [10] [11] [12]
Cory's Building is a 5-storey grade II listed building situated at the corner of Bute Place and Bute Street. It was built in 1889 and it was built for Cory Brothers & Co. Ltd. [6] The brothers were John Cory (1828–1910) and Richard Cory (1830–1914). The business included ship's chandlery, brokerage and the sale and export of coal.
In 1999 Cardiff Bay Development Corporation gave £10,000 toward the cost of a memorial to commemorate the Newtown community. The Newtown Memorial Garden was created, opened on 20 March 2005. It contains a large stone 'knotwork' sculpture by local artist David Mackie. [11]
