Mitch Murray CBE (born Lionel Michael Stitcher; 30 January 1940) [1] is an English songwriter, record producer and author. He has won two Ivor Novello Awards , including the Jimmy Kennedy Award. Murray has written, or co-written, songs that have produced five UK and three US chart-topping records. [ 2 ]
The song reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart. [1] In the US it peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of January 31, 1970, [2] number 10 on Cash Box and number 4 on the Easy Listening chart. [1] In Canada it reached number 10 on RPM magazine's RPM100 chart and number 4 on the RPM Adult chart.
