Eastlands is Tasmania's largest shopping centre; it is located on the eastern side of the Derwent River, in the shopping district of Rosny Park, and within the greater area of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It has a gross lettable area of about 33,000 m 2 (360,000 sq ft). [citation needed]
Rosny Park is home to Bellerive Police station, the Tasmanian Fire Service, and Bayfield Street Medical Centre, as well as Warrane barracks of the 12th/40th battalion of the Australian Army Reserve. It is the primary retail area of the eastern shore, home to Eastlands Shopping Centre, now the biggest in the state.
The centre features two main levels of shops, with a third level containing a Hoyts 12-screen cinema complex and restaurants, forming a total of approximately 530 stores. Eastland also contains a library, 120 room hotel and large outdoor dining precinct. It is the largest shopping centre in the City of Maroondah.
In 1963 the Clarence War Memorial Pool was constructed, and in 1965, Eastlands Shopping Centre opened in Rosny Park, being further expanded in 1971 and 1978.
