Fred Housego (born 25 October 1944, Dundee, Scotland) [1] is a former London taxi driver and tour guide who became a television and radio personality and presenter after winning the BBC television quiz Mastermind in 1980. [2] [3] He did not give up his taxi licence when he began his media career and was still driving a cab in 2007. [4]
Mastermind International was an annual playoff between winners of various international versions of the show (or the nearest equivalents in some countries) and ran for five years between 1979 and 1983. As with the standard show, four celebrities answer questions on a chosen "specialist subject" for a specific amount of time (usually one and a half minutes) before answering questions on general knowledge but with an extended time limit (usually two minutes).
Mastermind Champion of Champions is a pair of special series of BBC quiz program Mastermind, featuring past winners. The first series was broadcast in 1982 to celebrate the series' 10th anniversary and was won by Sir David Hunt over the other nine series winners.
