Trace Urban (formerly MCM Africa then Trace TV) is a French pay-TV music video television channel, that is owned by TPG Capital. [1] It is the parent channel of the various Trace music channels like Trace Africa and Trace Latina.

To celebrate 20 years of promoting and supporting African and Afro-inspired music, Trace staged the 1st Trace Awards & Festival at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda on 21 October 2023. The show was televised live to 350 million viewers and music fans around the world on Trace channels in 180 countries.
MCM Africa was created in 1994, then divested in 2002 to Alliance Trace Media and became Trace TV in 2003. In January 2000, the Lagardère and Canal+ groups signed a “long-term alliance” in digital television, with Groupe Canal+ acquiring a 49% stake in Lagardère's channels, including MCM. [6] [7]
