This is a list of episodes for the Japanese anime television series, Galaxy Express 999, which aired 113 episodes from 14 September 1978 to 28 March 1981. The television series was based on the manga series created by Leiji Matsumoto. Other episodes were based on stories included in other Matsumoto manga, while others were television originals.
DVD versions of both Galaxy Express 999 and Adieu, Galaxy Express 999 were released in the United States on June 28, 2011 by Discotek Media. Both DVDs feature the English subbed and dubbed (Viz dub) versions of the films. Discotek also released "Eternal Fantasy" on DVD on October 16, 2012. It is in Japanese only, but with English subtitles. [19]

Galaxy Express 999 was released in Japan on August 4, 1979 where it was distributed by Toei Company. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] It was the highest grossing film of 1979 in Japan. [ 6 ] The film was picked up for distribution in the United States by Roger Corman 's New World Pictures in 1980 but was shelved until 1982 after test bookings. [ 7 ]

The Queen Millennia anime television series aired on the Fuji TV network from 16 April 1981 through 25 March 1982 in the 7:00pm to 7:30pm time slot. It replaced Galaxy Express 999 in that time slot, and was replaced by Patalliro! at the end of its run. The series was animated by Toei Dōga.
