Amrita Sher-Gil (January 30, 1913 – December 5, 1941) was an eminent Indian painter, today considered an important women painter of 20th-century India, whose legacy stands on a par with that of the Masters of the Bengal Renaissance. Her painting Village Scene fetched Rs 6.9 crore at Osians auction in March 2006. [10]
L'Illustration (French pronunciation: [lilystʁasjɔ̃]; 1843–1944) was a French illustrated weekly newspaper published in Paris. [1] It was founded by Édouard Charton with the first issue published on 4 March 1843, it became the first illustrated newspaper in France then, after 1906, the first international illustrated magazine; distributed in 150 countries.

Stratton was born in Nowganj, Bundelkhand, Madhya Pradesh, India on 5 April 1867, [1] the daughter of a surgeon in the Indian military service John Proudfoot Stratton and Georgina Anne Anderson. Soon after Helen's birth, and following her father's retirement, the family moved to England, settling in Bath . [ 2 ]
