An untitled abstract by Gaitonde sold for Rs 92 lakh at an Osians auction, the highest amount paid for a contemporary Indian painting at the time. [7] Gaitonde died in 2002. In 2013, one of Gaitonde's untitled painting sold for ₹ 237 million (US$2.8 million), set a record for an Indian artist at Christie's debut auction in India. [8] [9]
L'Illustration (French pronunciation: [lilystʁasjɔ̃]; 1843–1944) was a French illustrated weekly newspaper published in Paris. [1] It was founded by Édouard Charton with the first issue published on 4 March 1843, it became the first illustrated newspaper in France then, after 1906, the first international illustrated magazine; distributed in 150 countries.
The Indian Railway Library was an enterprise conducted in Allahabad from 1888. It was a publishing venture of A. H. Wheeler & Co. , who "had the monopoly on bookstall sales on Indian railway stations" [ 1 ] It was a series of pamphlets intended to catch the interest of railway passengers, and offer cheap "throwaway" reading material.
