The US Navy bought another eight aircraft before the end of 1916, but orders in quantity only came following the type's selection as the Navy's standard flying-boat trainer in April 1917. An initial batch of 144 of the basic F model were ordered, followed by 22 MFs in 1918. Another 80 MFs were produced under license by the Naval Aircraft Factory.
Chris-Craft Boats was an American boat manufacturer founded by Christopher Columbus Smith (1861–1939). [1] The company was sold by the Smith family in 1960 to NAFI Corporation , which changed its name to Chris-Craft Industries in 1962.
Built in Scotland in 1907, the boat steamed between Fort William and Port McNicoll for over 50 years until she was sold for scrap in 1967. Saved from the wrecker's torch, Keewatin was towed to Saugatuck, Michigan for use as a museum in 1968.
