Two mascots, Go the Gorilla and Rocky the Mountain Lion were ranked fourth [1] and ninth [2] respectively on AskMen.com's top 10 sports mascots. As of now, four teams do not have a mascot, namely the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, and Golden State Warriors.

Benny was one of the many secret characters featured in the video game NBA Jam Tournament Edition. Along with him, three other NBA mascots appear in the game: the Phoenix Suns Gorilla, Charlotte Hornets' Hugo and Minnesota Timberwolves' Crunch. The late punk musician Wesley Willis did a song about him called "Benny the Bull".

Boomer is the official mascot of the Indiana Pacers, a professional basketball team that plays in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
