Blue Swede was first formed in 1973, when Björn Skifs, a top vocalist in Sweden, was looking for a band to accompany him during his concerts. [3]The band was originally called "Blåblus" (Swedish for "blue blouse" [could be made out of denim], a pun on the word "blues" [4]) and featured Skifs singing the lead vocals.
As the lead singer of Blue Swede (another pun - blue + suede), the band had a No. 1 hit on Billboard Hot 100 in 1974 with a cover of Mark James's "Hooked on a Feeling". Skifs embarked on a solo career after Slam Creepers broke up in 1969 and previously he had recorded the duet Med varann with Anni-Frid Lyngstad for his 1975 album Schiffz!. [4]
Slam Creepers were a rock band from Vansbro, Sweden formed by Björn Skifs in 1962 and broke up in 1969. Björn Skifs then went on a solo career. [1] They had some moderate hits including a cover of a Foundations song "We Are Happy People". Skifs would later find success with a number 1 hit "Hooked on a Feeling as a member of Blue Swede.

Hooked on a Feeling is an album by Swedish Rock band Blue Swede released in 1974. They became internationally recognized largely due to their 'ooga chaka' cover of Jonathan King's 1971 version of the 1968 Mark James song "Hooked on a Feeling".

Sweden was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1981 with the song Fångad i en dröm, written by Björn Skifs and Bengt Palmers, and performed by Skifs himself. The Swedish participating broadcaster, Sveriges Television (SVT), selected its entry through Melodifestivalen 1981. Skifs had previously represented Sweden in 1978.
