The Madison Fire Department (MFD) provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the city. The MFD operates out of 14 fire stations, [ 215 ] with a fleet of 12 engines, 5 ladders, [ 216 ] 2 rescue squads, 2 hazmat units, [ 217 ] a lake rescue team, [ 218 ] and 9 ambulances. [ 219 ]
