State Trunk Highway 17 (often called Highway 17, STH-17 or WIS 17) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Wisconsin.The highway is a secondary route in northeastern Wisconsin that directly connects Rhinelander, Eagle River and the central and eastern parts of Michigan's Upper Peninsula with Wausau, Wisconsin and points south and west.

Rib Mountain is almost 4 miles (6.4 km) long and peaks at 1,924 feet (586 m) above sea level and 624 feet (190 m) above the local terrain. The Rib River and Little Rib River are nearby.
Rib Mountain State Park is a 1,528-acre (618 ha) Wisconsin state park near the city of Wausau. The park includes a ski resort, Granite Peak Ski Area, concession stand, picnic areas, a reservable amphitheater, a former quarry, observation tower, and 15.1 miles of trails. The park is ten miles (16 km) north-northwest of Central Wisconsin Airport.
