Suwannee County is a county located in the north central portion of the state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 43,474, [1] up from 41,551 in 2010. [2] Its county seat is Live Oak. [3] Suwannee County was a dry county until August 2011, when the sale of alcoholic beverages became legal in the county. [4]

From 1865 to 1869 or 1870, Dean attended the National Freedman's Relief Association then attended Suwannee County's public school until 1873. With the goal of becoming a teacher, Dean transferred back to Lake City in order to attend a school run by Reverend Jerome B. Armstrong for a short time before attending Brown's University until 1874 when a hurricane destroyed the building.

Wellborn is an unincorporated community in Suwannee County, Florida, United States. Wellborn is located near U.S. Route 90 (State Road 10), 11 miles (18 km) east-southeast of Live Oak. It also includes County Roads 137 and 250. Wellborn has a post office with ZIP code 32094. [2] Wellborn was established as a town in 1860.

The Suwannee County Courthouse (constructed in 1904) is a historic government building located at 200 South Ohio Avenue on the southwest corner of Warren Street in Live Oak, Florida. On November 12, 1998, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places .
