The campus is located in Berea, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. The campus is built around land that originally was two separate schools that combined in 1913. The campus has numerous buildings that carry historical significance. The campus itself has two historic districts on the National Register of Historic Places.
At 221 feet (67 m) tall, it was once one of the tallest buildings in America and tallest in Cleveland until 1922 when it was surpassed by the Keith Building. The building was designed by the firm of Shepley, Rutan, and Coolidge and remodeled by Walker and Weeks in 1915.

The site's early owner, Jeptha Wade, began to develop it into a park in 1872; in 1882, he donated the 63-acre plot to the city government, which later purchased additional land to expand it. [1] As Wade had envisioned, the park became the home of an art museum in 1916 with the opening of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
