The album featured tracks released during the group's time on 4AD between 1982 and 1990, covering every Cocteau Twins album from Garlands through Heaven or Las Vegas.
In a retrospective review for AllMusic, critic Ned Raggett wrote of the album, "the Humberstones take a notable step forward from rock aesthetics to a much more elaborate, involved kind of music", concluding that "Twins remains an underrated, fascinating album." [1]
