Rapid KL (promoted as rapidKL) is a public transportation system owned by Prasarana Malaysia and operated by its subsidiaries Rapid Rail and Rapid Bus.The acronym stands for Rangkaian Pengangkutan Integrasi Deras Kuala Lumpur, which translates to Kuala Lumpur Rapid Integrated Transport Network in the Malay language.
The MRT line covers a span of 47 kilometres (29 mi) from Kwasa Damansara to Kajang, passing the Kuala Lumpur city centre where the alignment goes underground. [citation needed] The line serves a corridor with 1.2 million residents within the Klang Valley region from the northwest to the southeast of Kuala Lumpur.
Due to financial difficulties, PUTRA-LRT was wound up by the Kuala Lumpur High Court in April 26, 2002. By September 1, 2002, PUTRA-LRT came under management of Syarikat Prasarana Negara (also known as Prasarana Malaysia) and renamed "Putraline" under the first phase of the restructuring of Kuala Lumpur's public transport system.
