Abdullahi Audu Sule was born on 26 December 1959, in Akwanga-West Development Area of present day Nasarawa State. [4] His early schooling was at Roman Catholic Mission (RMC) Primary School, Gudi Station in 1968. He then enrolled in Zang Secondary School in 1974 and later Government Technical College, Bukuru in 1977.

The current gubernatorial term ends and new term begins in May for most states, two to three months after their election. Governors are elected for a term of four years (maximum of two terms).
He was elected to the constitution Assembly of 1988–89, representing the Lafia–Obi Federal Constituency of what is now Nasarawa State. He was state secretary of the National Republican Convention (NRC) party in Plateau State from 1990 to 1992. Al-makura was a founding member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State in 1998. [3]
