The Ghoul is introduced in "The End" in the year 2296 as an infamous mutant bounty hunter. Throughout the first season, his cruelty and cynicism clashes with Lucy MacLean's naivety and optimism. In "The Ghouls", Lucy is sold to organ harvesters by the Ghoul yet chooses to give him life-saving drugs when he collapses from withdrawal.
The Ghoul takes Lucy to an abandoned supermarket. He trades her to a gang of organ harvesters for replacement chems but collapses before the trade is complete. About to be cut open, Lucy fights back and frees the captive ghouls held by the harvesters. The feral ghouls attack her and the gang, and Lucy is forced to kill for the first time.
The Ghoul stays with him in his last moments, and when Roger reminisces over a happy memory, the Ghoul abruptly kills him with a gunshot, sparing him from his inevitable fate. He then starts eating Roger's corpse, repulsing Lucy. Later, Lucy feels forced to drink radiated water, having no other choice. She fights the Ghoul and bites his finger off.
