Ocean heat content (OHC) or ocean heat uptake (OHU) is the energy absorbed and stored by oceans. To calculate the ocean heat content, it is necessary to measure ocean temperature at many different locations and depths. Integrating the areal density of a change in enthalpic energy over an ocean basin or entire ocean gives the total ocean heat ...

The General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) is a publicly available bathymetric chart of the world's oceans. The project was conceived with the aim of preparing a global series of charts showing the general shape of the seafloor. Over the years it has become a reference map of the bathymetry of the world's oceans for scientists and others.

IBCSO is a joint project by the International Hydrographic Organization, the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research, the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans and the Seabed 2030 Project. The project aims to identify and pool all Bathymetry data in the Southern Ocean and use that data to produce gridded bathymetric maps of the seafloor .
For models used to estimate climate sensitivity, specific test metrics that are directly and physically linked to climate sensitivity are sought. Examples of such metrics are the global patterns of warming, [ 83 ] the ability of a model to reproduce observed relative humidity in the tropics and subtropics, [ 84 ] patterns of heat radiation ...
Earth experienced its sixth warmest year on record in 2021, continuing a trend where each of the past four decades has ranked hotter than the one before it.
The single probe method employs a heat source inserted into the soil whereby heat energy is applied continuously at a given rate. The thermal properties of the soil can be determined by analysing the temperature response adjacent to the heat source via a thermal sensor. This method reflects the rate at which heat is conducted away from the probe.
