"Radio Bart" is the thirteenth episode of the third season of the American animated television series The Simpsons. It originally aired on Fox in the United States on January 9, 1992. In the episode, Bart receives a microphone that transmits sound to nearby AM radios .
The episode begins in medias res, in which Bart Simpson appears to be mannerly. Bart breaks the fourth wall by offering to tell the show's audience why he has changed. Two months earlier at Grandparents' Day, Bart changes the lyrics of a song for the grandparents visiting, and Principal Skinner takes him to detention, and also punishes Grampa for trying to intervene.
The "Bart Stinks" song that Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearney sing is a parody of "Love Stinks" by The J. Geils Band, and when Bart notices this he rips down his J. Geils Band posters off his room wall in disappointment. [2] Bart spinning in a circle while his clothes fly off after having been hit by the ball is a reference to Charlie Brown in Peanuts. [2]
"The Parent Rap" was co-written by George Meyer and Mike Scully, and Mark Kirkland served as the director for the episode. [2] It was first broadcast on the Fox network in the United States on November 11, 2001. [2] The title of the episode is a reference to The Parent Trap.
In its original broadcast, "The Canine Mutiny" finished 43rd in ratings for the week of April 7–13, 1997, with a Nielsen rating of 8.1, equivalent to approximately 7.9 million viewing households. It was the fourth highest-rated show on the Fox network that week, following The X-Files , King of the Hill , and Beverly Hills, 90210 .
