Established in 1972, [1] [2] the District provides parks, park facilities and recreational programs to the local communities. Management of the Bogart Regional Park was transferred from Riverside County Parks to the District in 2019, and is the largest facility overseen by the District. [3]
This includes operation of a visitor center and a 40-mile (60 km) trail system, managed by the Riverside County Parks (RivCo Parks). A non-profit organization, the Santa Rosa Plateau Nature Education Foundation, provides funding for field trips to the Reserve for all third-graders in the area.
