Triethylenetetramine (TETA and trien), also known as trientine when used medically, is an organic compound with the formula [CH 2 NHCH 2 CH 2 NH 2] 2. The pure free base is a colorless oily liquid, but, like many amines , older samples assume a yellowish color due to impurities resulting from air oxidation .
Tren is a common impurity in the more common triethylenetetramine ("trien"). As a trifunctional amine, tren forms a triisocyanate when derivatized with COCl 2. TREN is known to react fast in the presence of (aromatic) aldehydes to form an imine. During this process, water is formed, making it a condensation reaction.
In chemistry, the mass concentration ρ i (or γ i) is defined as the mass of a constituent m i divided by the volume of the mixture V. [1]= For a pure chemical the mass concentration equals its density (mass divided by volume); thus the mass concentration of a component in a mixture can be called the density of a component in a mixture.
It is the number of Nitrogens x 56.1 (Mwt of KOH) x 1000 (convert to milligrams) divided by molecular mass of the amine functional compound. So using Tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) as an example: Mwt = 189, number of nitrogen atoms = 5 So 5 x 1000 x 56.1/189 = 1484. So the Amine Value of TEPA = 1484
Triethylamine is prepared by the alkylation of ammonia with ethanol: [10]. NH 3 + 3 C 2 H 5 OH → N(C 2 H 5) 3 + 3 H 2 O. The pK a of protonated triethylamine is 10.75, [4] and it can be used to prepare buffer solutions at that pH.
The interest stems from that accurate measurements of the unit cell volume, atomic weight and mass density of a pure crystalline solid provide a direct determination of the Avogadro constant. [ 3 ] The CODATA recommended value for the molar volume of silicon is 1.205 883 199 (60) × 10 −5 m 3 ⋅mol −1 , with a relative standard uncertainty ...
Triethylenetetramine ("trien") Hexamethylenetetramine (hexamine) Tetramethylenedisulfotetramine (TETS), a rodenticide banned in most countries; Tetramine is also used as a synonym for the tetramethylammonium cation.
Molar concentration or molarity is most commonly expressed in units of moles of solute per litre of solution. [1] For use in broader applications, it is defined as amount of substance of solute per unit volume of solution, or per unit volume available to the species, represented by lowercase : [2]
