    Having owned a W123 and a W124 for, respectively, 12 and 18 years, I tend to believe that overall the W124 slightly better than the W123. If the shock absorbers of a W123 are not in good condition, it becomes a very lousy drive on wet roads, whereas the W124's multi-link rear suspension is much more forgiving.
