The following is a list of hospitals in Colombo District, Sri Lanka. The biggest government hospitals in the district, known as line ministry hospitals, are controlled by the central government in Colombo. All other government hospitals in the district are controlled by the provincial government in Colombo.

It was founded by business magnate H.K. Dharmadasa (aka Nawaloka Mudalai) in 1985 as the first corporate private hospital in Sri Lanka. Nawaloka Hospital Group was listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 2004. The hospital has more than 400 beds and 1,000 staff members. In 2011 Nawaloka was awarded ISO 9001:2008 Certification.
The National Hospital of Sri Lanka (sometimes General Hospital) is a government hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded in 1864 as the General Hospital, it is the leading hospital in Sri Lanka and is controlled by the central government. The hospital has 18 intensive care units and 21 operating theaters and 3,404 beds.
On the 26 February 1887 W. R. Kynsey (who later became Sir William Kynsey), the Principal Medical Officer of Ceylon arranged a meeting with fifteen other doctors, at the Colonial Medical Library on Maradana Road, Colombo, with a view to organising a branch of the British Medical Association in Ceylon. The hospital was founded in 1905 by Dr. E.V. Ratnam. It was the first privately owned hospital in Sri Lanka. Ownership was then transferred to Dr. Kumaran Ratnam, who also served as Mayor of Colombo in 1950. [2] Most recently, the hospital was owned and headed by Dr. Ganesh Ratnam, until his passing in 2018. [3]
