Elastica were an English rock band formed in London in 1992 by guitarist/singer Justine Frischmann and drummer Justin Welch after their departure from Suede. The band was stylistically influenced by punk rock, post-punk and new wave music. [2]
The reunited band consisted of Anderson, Berenyi and King with the addition of Justin Welch on drums, an old friend of Chris Acland. [1] We wish it could have been sooner but, for many years, it was just too painful to contemplate without Chris, and then all kinds of life-changing commitments made it impossible.
Justin Welch briefly filled the role, though he lasted only six weeks before joining the Crawley band Spitfire. [11] However, he remained long enough to record two songs with the band, which were set to be released as the "Be My God"/"Art" single on RML Records.
On 21 January 2017 three-quarters of the original line-up of Elastica – Matthews, Annie Holland and Justin Welch – worked together on the remastering of Elastica. [ 4 ] As of 2022, Matthews has a YouTube channel where she uploads mostly improvisational music.
Frischmann reconnected with Annie Holland in early 1999 and formed a new line-up of the band, including Justin Welch, keyboardist/vocalist Sharon Mew, formerly of Heave, guitarist Paul Jones (Linoleum's former member) and keyboardist Dave Bush, formerly of The Fall.
Frischmann began writing and studying music at age 11. [2]She was a founding member of the band Suede with Brett Anderson, whom she met at UCL in 1988.She left the band in October 1991. [2]
