Underground farming is the practice of cultivating food underground. Underground farming is usually done using hydroponics , aeroponics or air-dynaponics systems or container gardens . Light is generally provided by means of growth lamps [ 1 ] or daylighting systems (as light tubes ).
The Kratky method is a passive hydroponic technique for growing plants suspended above a reservoir of nutrient-rich water. [1] Because it is a non-circulating technique, no additional inputs of water or nutrients are needed after the original application, and no electricity, pumps, or water and oxygen circulation systems are required. [2]
Ebb and flow hydroponics is a form of hydroponics that is known for its simplicity, reliability of operation and low initial investment cost. Pots are filled with an inert medium which does not function like soil or contribute nutrition to the plants but which anchors the roots and functions as a temporary reserve of water and solvent mineral ...
Controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) -- which includes indoor agriculture (IA) and vertical farming—is a technology-based approach toward food production. The aim of CEA is to provide protection from the outdoor elements and maintain optimal growing conditions throughout the development of the crop.

Aquaponics is a food production system that couples aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as fish, crayfish, snails or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) whereby the nutrient-rich aquaculture water is fed to hydroponically grown plants.
Hydroponics offers many advantages, notably a decrease in water usage in agriculture. To grow 1 kilogram (2.2 lb) of tomatoes using intensive farming methods requires 214 liters (47 imp gal; 57 U.S. gal) of water; [9] using hydroponics, 70 liters (15 imp gal; 18 U.S. gal); and; only 20 liters (4.4 imp gal; 5.3 U.S. gal) using aeroponics.
After going on over 20 cruises and stopping at many ports, I know to avoid spending money on unlimited drink packages and overpriced spa products.
