Spur 527 is a 0.863-mile (1.389 km) spur route in Midtown Houston in the U.S. state of Texas. The roadway is a freeway spur that feeds traffic from the Southwest Freeway (Interstate 69/U.S. Highway 59) into Downtown Houston. The route is mostly unsigned, except for a sign posted on the southbound side, right after an intersection with Smith Street.
The route travels northward, paralleling the freeway to its west. It passes the community of Kingwood and the unincorporated area of Porter before reaching New Caney, where it has a brief concurrency with FM 1485. Shortly thereafter, it connects once again with I-69/US 59, where the Loop 494 designation ends. [1] [3]
A previous route numbered Loop 8 was designated on September 25, 1939, in Beaumont, running from US 59 (later US 96, after the 1939 redescription of the highway system) at Gladys Street via Gulf Street, North Street, and Fourth Street to US 90 as a renumbering of SH 8 Loop. This route was cancelled on January 18, 1944.

From Future I-69/US 59, the highway continues northeast about 1.0 mile (1.6 km) where it turns to the north. Spur 10 continues for a distance of 1.2 miles (1.9 km) to a bridge over U.S. Route 90 Alternate (US 90 Alt.). Traffic on Spur 10 can access US 90 Alt. in both directions.
It runs from I-69/US 59 to Elgin Street. The route is unsigned. Spur 527 was designated on July 30, 1976, on the current route, which was once the original routing of US 59 into Downtown Houston.
