The population was 7,178 at the 2020 census. [4] The township is located 9 miles (14 km) northwest of Pittsburgh. There is no central business district, but there are a few small shops in the Mt. Nebo area. A new shopping center has been built called Mt. Nebo Pointe.
At the 2000 census there were 4,990 people, 1,713 households, and 1,365 families living in the township. The population density was 172.0 inhabitants per square mile (66.4/km 2). There were 1,789 housing units at an average density of 61.7 units per square mile (23.8 units/km 2).
