The Kaiser-Frazer Corporation was established in August 1945 as a joint venture between the Henry J. Kaiser Company and Graham-Paige Motors Corporation. Both Henry J. Kaiser, a California-based industrialist, and Joseph W. Frazer, CEO of Graham-Paige, wanted to get into the automobile business and pooled their resources and talents to do so. [1]
In 1955, Kaiser phased out both the Kaiser and Willys passenger car lines and shipped the dies to Argentina, where the joint venture with the Argentine government-owned Industrias Kaiser Argentina (IKA) continued to build cars through 1977, when Renault took over.
The company was founded on 25 July 1945, and in 1946 Kaiser-Frazer displayed prototypes of their two new cars at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. The Kaiser had an advanced front-wheel drive design, while the Frazer was an upscale, conventional rear-wheel drive car.

The Frazer used the Continental Red Seal 226 CID "Supersonic" L-head six engines, which reached 115 hp (86 kW) by the end of Frazer production after the 1951 model year. The luxury line Frazer Manhattan Series F47C was introduced on March 23, 1947, at a $500 premium over the original Frazer Series F-47, which continued on as the Standard.
Janesville Assembly's chimney. Janesville Assembly Plant was a former automobile factory owned by General Motors located in Janesville, Wisconsin. Opened in 1919, it was the oldest operating GM plant when it was largely idled in December 2008, and ceased all remaining production on April 23, 2009. The demolition of the plant was completed in 2019.
