[17] Carrying one lane of traffic eastbound, it connected Benton County on the west to Linn County on the east side of the Willamette. Benton County was created on December 23, 1847, by an act of the Provisional Government of Oregon. [3] The county was named after Democratic Senator Thomas Hart Benton of Missouri, an advocate of the doctrine of Manifest Destiny and the belief that the American government should control the whole of the Oregon Country.
The Benton County Courthouse is a courthouse building located in Corvallis, Benton County, in the U.S. state of Oregon.
