Look on YT for the Lava squid farm assuming your still running 1.10 squids still spawn in lava, which they can't swim in and fall straight through, I built one on the SMP server I'm on and I've filled about 9 double chests in a few days
you can get 3 witherskulles, spawn a wither, let it kill a lot of mobs, so they will drop wither roses, and turn the witherroses into black dye. Or you can just find an ocean and kill squid there. Squid and Salmon share a mob cap. If you don't see salmon, that simply means there are too many salmon spawned around you.
Even almost 2 years later people still complain about the glow squid. It isn't useless and here's why. It has an atmospheric use much like the Bat, the Desert Well, and of course, the Squid. It makes the world feel more alive and makes exploring caves not so boring. It has a decorative use with signs and item frames.
It's the regural "water columns flowing down with fence gates around" design. Squids spawn in the water column, fall down, die and the drops get collected. Make sure there isn't anything above the farm and that you've eliminated all other spots where squids can spawn in 128 radius. Edit: If you are on a server, squid farm won't work if other ...

All you have to do is build the exact same thing as the glowsquid farm by Shulkercraft but on a river biome and the y coordinates for the water level of the farm should be in y 50-64 (where squids spawn). It works better if you dry out the water outside of the farm to increase spawns inside the farm. (I dried out the water 64 blocks away from ...
Not that difficult to make a really fast one. Find a land locked "ocean", like a lake, drain it and other water around it. After this you can control where water is dispensed "in the drains ocean" and drop the squid onto a killing floor of your preference. Frunocrafts one. Ilmangos one.
The reason squids are hard to find is because they can only swim downwards. Which is why you tend to see them in shallow water. In deep water they congregate at the deepest/darkest parts, so dark that it is hard to make out a squid in front of your face. Either use F3 or use carved pumkins to light up the sea floor.
The minecraft "squid" has 8 arms, because Sweedish (Notch's native tongue) uses the same word for both. (bläkfisk) So it's really minecraft that made the mistake, not OP. Afaic the minecraft squid is not a mob based on real life but a swimming abomination and a bug report generator. Neither is the squid.
