Posted January 27, 2017. They redid the spool on the CTs in order to hold the same amount of line also. I own 4 Tatulas Type Rs (same body as an original Tatula 100 except for more red accents, and they replaced one regular bearing with an extra corrosion resistant bearing, also includes a tiny bit lighter spool). I also own 2 CTs.
LCG. I have the original Tatula and the Fuego. Both great reels but to be honest the T wing system doesn't do much for me. If anything the leader knot gets hung up if using a long leader. The Tatula is built like a tank though, the Fuego is solid too but the Tatula is a solid reel. Overall I would go the Fuego route.
I received my Tatula 100HS on Saturday and had a chance to take it out on the water on Sunday. Spooled up with 10lb. mono and put on a Daiwa Steez XT 701MRB casting rod, my intent was to fish jerkbaits (and topwater) at a local private lake. Ended up catching a few and here are my thoughts on the reel:
Daiwa Tatula CT 100H at $130 Would appreciate recommendations on which to buy and why you prefer one over the other. I currently own more than just a few Abu Garcia's (four older 4500's and two Max Pro's) and have zero complaints but I was quite impressed with the large number of sterling reviews the Daiwa Tatula CT reels I found.

The CT feels better in my hands, but that could be because I’m not used to using a reel as small as the 100. As previously stated, they both feel the same on cast and retrieve. For $109 at SO , the Tat 100 is a great deal. I wouldn’t pay retail of $150 for one though, I’d spend the money on a SV. 2.
The Tatula line of reels adjust different than any other reel. This is because of the MagForce Z brake system. Take a few minutes to watch these two youtube videos. The first video will explain how the different versions of brakes on Daiwa reels operate. The second one is Brett Ehler showing you how to properly adjust one.
i have had my daiwa tatula ct 100hs for less than a month now and after using it in heavy rain for 1 day. I also used it in salty conditions in a bay but washed it off straight after. Is there a chance that it rusted or something got in the gears? Ive checked the spool and side plate but im afrai...
The older CT framed model has 3 small openings over the levelwind and the 2020 model does not. I believe the Tat 100 has more line capacity, while the SV has the shallower SV spool that helps with spool intertia and more controlled braking and casting, but less line capacity. I personally like the SV better than the Tat 100.
2- Daiwa Coastal SVs 2 - ABU Revo SX 1 - Daiwa Tatula CT The Coastals and one of the Revos are dead silent when reeling. However, the other Revo, and the Tat CT both "whirrr" pretty good when reeling. I don't know that I'd call it "geary", but definitely noisy.
