    From Lady Hawk -- Oct. 9, 2024. Hurricane Milton was two hours from making landfall in Florida with the winds and rain really picking up at this point. F23 is seen flying into the nest. She hangs on to the nest as she looks around but she realizes that the weather is changing fast so she flies off the nest heading W/SW.

There was an owl strike late last night against the intruder, who was spending the night on an upper branch in the nest tree. After she was hit, she circled around several times before landing back in the tree. A couple of minutes later, she joined M15.

    The owls are formidable birds; however, an intruder eagle is a far more dangerous bird, IMO. The top reasons eagles go into care or perish are human caused issues: vehicle strikes, power line strikes, poisoning (lead, rodenticide, etc.). Fights with other eagles are far more common than fights with owls.
