Pappas said the Payment Plan Calculator grew out of deliberations by the Illinois Property Tax Payment Plan Task Force. The Illinois General Assembly in 2023 passed legislation that created the task force to recommend payment options designed to prevent tax-delinquent owner-occupied homes in Cook County from being sold at the Annual Tax Sale.

The Cook County Treasurer's Office now offers the Payment Plan Calculator, a free financial planning tool to help you make partial payments on your delinquent property taxes. All taxpayers with a delinquent tax balance of $100 or more are welcome to use this tool.
If you are unable to pay online, you may pay at any of the nearly 400 Chase Bank locations in Illinois, including those located outside of Cook County. Check the hours of your branch. You must present with your payment a tax bill payment coupon either for the current Tax Year 2023 (payable in 2024) or delinquent Tax Year 2022 (payable in 2023).
