Further gold coins were issued in 1866 for 1 pe, 2 + 1 ⁄ 2 mu and 1 kyat, with 5 mu issued in 1878.
In 1949, coins were introduced in denominations of 2 pya, 1, 2, 4 and 8 pe. They matched the size, shapes, and cupro-nickel composition of the Indian 1 ⁄ 2, 1 and 2 annas and 1 ⁄ 4 and 1 ⁄ 2 rupee.
