Hill Street Blues is an American serial police drama that aired on NBC in primetime from 1981 to 1987 for a total of 146 episodes. The show chronicled the lives of the staff of a single police station located on the fictional Hill Street, in an unnamed large city, with "blues" being a slang term for police officers for their blue uniforms.

Preston , 1982-1987) Originally introduced as the commander of the powerful Midtown Precinct, Cleveland was also the president of the Black Officers' Coalition, and he nominated Bobby Hill to the vice-presidency of the BOC.

He is best known for playing police captain Frank Furillo in the television drama series Hill Street Blues (1981–1987) [2] for which he received a Golden Globe Award from five nominations, and two consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards from five nominations.
Taurean Blacque, beloved for his role of Detective Neal Washington on “Hill Street Blues,” has died. He was 82 years old. Blacque died Thursday according to his son Rodney’s Facebook post.
