The university has two campuses within Bengaluru – Jnanabharathi and Central College. [3] University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering was established in the year 1917, by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya, At present, the UVCE is the only engineering college under the Bangalore University.

The college was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an A++ in the Second Cycle : with a CGPA of 3.83 on a scale of four which is highest in the country. The re-accreditation status is valid from 28 March 2019 to 28 March 2024. [ 19 ]
In 2018, SJIM was listed among the top three business schools in Bangalore by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), behind IIM-B and XIME.
