What thickness or gauge is standard automotive sheetmetal. 03-30-2005, 05:14 PM. What thickness or gauge is standard automotive sheetmetal on American vehicles, such as a door skin or fender skin. I'm practicing up on my Mig and am trying to determine settings, using ER70-6S and C25. The tables in my texts and on the machine reference gauge.

  3. Welding table top, material choice and thickness

    forum.millerwelds.com/.../33449-welding-table-top-material-choice-and-thickness

04-04-2014, 08:23 PM. The acorn is the only table that can be called perfect. My opinion about thick tables is the thicker the better, you cant pound on a thin table with a big hammer. When some one starts off welding, they only think of welding, but in reality, jobs come in requiring welding and mechanical skills.

07-22-2008, 06:54 PM. Milwaukee 6370-20; they're a great tool. The table is great because you're within 3" of an edge at any given point on the entire 4x8' surface. So you can use standard c-clamps over the entire thing and adjust them to your hearts content without ever grinding a tack.

  5. matching electrode diameter to metal thickness

    forum.millerwelds.com/.../21397-matching-electrode-diameter-to-metal-thickness

Much of the plate thickness depends on joint prep, such as a V or u groove. 3/32" 6010 is good for 14g up to about 3/16", 1/8" 6010 good for 1/8" up to about 1/4". 5/32" 6010 good for 1/4" up to 1/2". My suggestions are for small projects, not maximum speed. As for your question about 3/16" rod, I don't know, but it requires more amps than many ...

  7. Mig wire size .030 or .035 - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/16634-mig-wire-size-030-or-035

Tweet. #1. Mig wire size .030 or .035. 02-18-2009, 10:42 PM. According to charts for thicker material you should use .035 but most welding shops say .030 works great on most applications with the millermatic machines. I own a MM211 welding between 1/8- 1/4 material using C02. Tags: None.

  8. .023 or .030 mig wire for 20-22 gauge auto panels on 30's cars?

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/27678-023-or-030-mig-wire-for...

Either would do but I'd go with .023 and the recommended -6 in my opinion. The .023 won't require as much heat as the .030 and will be a little easier to control. Again, IMO but I've never restored a 30's gem. MM200 w/spot controller and Spoolmatic 1. Syncrowave 180 SD.

  9. tungsten size selection - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/8280-tungsten-size-selection

For starters on AC with aluminum use 110HZ, 72 EN balance, no pulse, and approximately 1 amp per .001” of material thickness. For example 1/8” =.125 inches or 125 amps. I hope this helps. By the way 3/32” 2% lanthanated does 99% of my work. I use the 1/16” diameter for the thin stuff as in 22 gauge for your work.

  10. approx strength of wood vs. aluminum - Miller Welding Discussion...

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-projects/16606-approx-strength-of-wood-vs...

i am imagining the following experiment: take two 2" x 36" strips of 1/16" AL sheet 6061-T6. anneal one sheet and leave the other at T6 temper. then take both sheets and lay them across a 30" wide span (not fixing the endpoints). they will obviously both sag somewhat in the middle. but i am thinking the annealed sheet will sag more.

    forum.millerwelds.com/.../4488-tungsten-size-amp-chart-per-metal-thickness

Also, on page 22 of my 180 SD's owners manual it says 2% 3/32 thoriated tungsten is good from 135-235 amps, would it be better for me to use 1/16 X 1 1/2% lanthanated or 1/16 ceriated tungsten to tig 1/8 steel on my 180SD. Thanks guys for any help. Tags: None. klsm54. Senior Member.
