Ladybank (listen ⓘ) is a village and former burgh of Fife, Scotland. It is about 62 kilometres (39 mi) north of Edinburgh , 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) southwest of Cupar , close to the River Eden . Its 2006 population was estimated at 1,582.
The access at Ladybank was by a curve leading southwards on the Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee Railway main line; it joined that line some distance south of Ladybank station, and passenger trains arriving at Ladybank reversed on a headshunt parallel with the main line [note 3] to a bay platform there. In February 1951, the Newburgh (Glenburnie Junction) to St Fort line closed to passenger services. The station's history continued mainly uneventfully until 19 September 1955 when the station closed to passengers (along with the other intermediate stations between Bridge of Earn and Ladybank), but remained open for goods purposes.
