The University of Sri Lanka was a public university in Sri Lanka. Established in 1972 by amalgamating the four existing universities, it was the only university in Sri Lanka from 1972 until 1978. The university was based at six campuses in Colombo, Peradeniya, Sri Jayewardenepura, Kelaniya, Moratuwa and Jaffna.

The University of Kelaniya established its 7th Faculty - the Faculty of Computing and Technology (FCT) on 30 December 2015 and the Faculty commenced its operations on 18 January 2016. The Faculty will offer Postgraduate Programmes in the areas of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology and Engineering Technology.
SLTC Research University is a private university in Sri Lanka. [1] It conducts Engineering programs in Electronics, Telecommunications, Power Systems, Civil and Computing. Its degree programs are accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways and recognized by the university grants commission (UGC).
