Roads from Stehekin follow the river up much of its valley. There are numerous campgrounds. The Pacific Crest Trail enters the Stehekin River basin from the south via Suiattle Pass, down South Fork Agnes Creek and Agnes Creek to the Stehekin River, then up the Stehekin to Bridge Creek and up Bridge Creek to Rainy Pass. Stehekin is also accessible from Washington Pass via the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). As well, the PCT can be used to access Stehekin from the Suiattle River Valley, although the hike is longer than that from Washington Pass. [19] A network of trails through the mountains east of Stehekin provide access by foot from the Methow Valley area. [20]
From the west, one reaches it by hiking an easy 3.5 mile trail from the end of the Cascade River Road (elev. 3,600 feet (1,100 m)). From the east, it is accessible via a trail from Stehekin up the Stehekin River valley. The summit of the pass, being at the tree line, is known for its views in all directions.
