Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) is a display panel interface standard for portable and embedded devices. It defines the signaling interface between graphics cards and integrated displays. The various revisions of eDP are based on existing DisplayPort standards. However, version numbers between the two standards are not interchangeable.
The Video Electronics Standards Association has unveiled Embedded DisplayPort 1.4a, a new format that lets all-in-ones and laptops use 8K screens (7,680 x 4,320, if you want to be exact).

The embedded DisplayPort (eDP) standard consumes less power than the on-the-way-out LVDS method, and a new update from VESA should cut down on energy usage even more. The reduced power-sipping ...
Basic LVDS circuit. FPD-Link was the first large-scale application of the low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) standard. National Semiconductor immediately provided interoperability specifications for the FPD-Link technology in order to promote it as a free and open standard, and thus other IC suppliers were able to copy it.
Four times the resolution of 1080p. Requires a dual-link DVI, category 2 (high-speed) HDMI, DisplayPort or a single Thunderbolt link, and a reduced scan rate (up to 30 Hz); a DisplayPort 1.2 connection can support this resolution at 60 Hz, or 30 Hz in stereoscopic 3D. 3840×2160 (8,294k) 3840 2160 8,294,400 16:9 24 bpp DCI 4K
