John S. Larrabee of Vermont established the first regular ferry at the location in the late 18th century. [37] The Vermont State Legislature approved a franchise for a ferry from Larrabees Point to Ticonderoga in 1907, to the Shoreham and Ticonderoga Ferry Company.
