In 1851, the corporation purchased an 80-acre parcel of land that was primarily situated in Malden, Massachusetts, but also included a portion in the town of North Chelsea (now known as Revere, Massachusetts). [2] In 1870, a part of Malden which included Woodlawn Cemetery was set off from the town and incorporated into as town of Everett. [3]
The Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) held joint hearings into the collision. ICC examiner Robert Boyce believed that the Buddliner's doors were responsible for many of the deaths in the accident, stating "I believe more people would have escaped from the train had the door opened outward instead of inward". From 1905 to 1909 he was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He was chairman of the House legal affairs committee in 1907 and the street railway committee in 1908 and 1909. [3] In 1917, Weeks defeated incumbent John J. Mullen by 230 votes to become Mayor of Everett. [4]
